演劇祭6～友好姉妹演劇祭提携/Ａ Twinning of Friendship for Two Theatre Festivals～

　続いて、カナダの｢リバプール国際演劇祭｣との友好姉妹演劇祭提携が行われ、お互いの演劇祭が確かな一歩を歩むようにと、友情の結びつきを強めました。
　１９９８年、劇団あしぶえがカナダの「第４回リバプール国際演劇祭」に出場したことがきっかけとなって、リバプールと八雲は、共に小さなまちで定期的に開催する演劇祭として、お互いに刺激し合い、学び合うことになりました。
　そして、２０００年に行われた「第５回リバプール国際演劇祭」には、「ＹＩＴＦ」から、石倉徳章大会長、園山土筆芸術監督、メアリー　キャサリン・マルシニアックアソシエイトディレクター／多文化ファッシリテーターが出席し、世界からやって来た観客、「国際アマチュア演劇連盟（ＩＡＴＡ）」の理事、参加劇団員、「LITF」のボランティアスタッフの皆さんの前で、この深い友情を正式なかたちにして、広く紹介しました。
　今回は、「ＬＩＴＦ」のエバ・モーア芸術監督が、審査員として来村されたのを機に、「ＹＩＴＦ」でもこの地域の人たちのためにセレモニーの中で紹介したものです。

In succession, the Twinning Ceremony was held between Canada’s “Liverpool International Theatre Festival (LITF)” and the “Yakumo International Theatre Festival (YITF)”. The relationship between Liverpool and Yakumo began in 1998 at the 4th Liverpool International Theatre Festival with Theatre Group Ashibue performing. As a result of being two small communities focused on holding regular theatre festivals, we have pledged to mutually learn from each other and provoke new ideas. Consequently, during the 5th Liverpool festival in 2000, with Norifumi Ishikura (Mayor of Yakumo & YITF’s Executive Director), Tsukushi Sonoyama (YITF’s Managing / Artistic Director) and Mary Catherine Marciniak (YITF’s Associate Director / Multicultural Facilitator) in attendance, to officially and expansively recognize this deeply felt friendship, the first ceremony was held in front of audience members from around the world, the Executive Committee of the International Amateur Theatre Association (IATA), the participating theatre groups and LITF’s volunteer staff. In turn, with LITF’s Artistic Director, Eva Moore being invited to adjudicate, a subsequent ceremony was held here for the Yakumo community. By strengthening our bond of friendship, we hope for greater success respectively in our future festivals.
